Serving The Queensway, Islington-City Centre West, Mimico
The Queensway's retail plazas and Etobicoke's commissaries and restaurants pair RTUs with make-up air units that must balance against kitchen exhaust. We service both on one visit and verify hood interlocks.

The local pattern
What you see: Hood exhaust pulls hard, the podium entrance door whistles and the dining room smells like the kitchen.
Why it happens here: Humber Bay Shores went from a motel strip to towers of up to 49 storeys on retail podiums, and a restaurant in a podium unit shares pressure with the tower's lobbies and corridors.
What we do: We service the restaurant's RTU and make-up air unit together, measure exhaust and supply, verify the hood interlock and rebalance so the kitchen stops borrowing air from the building.
01
A residential tech misreads a commercial economizer and replaces parts that did not need it. We megger windings and test controls before anyone quotes a compressor.
02
A contractor quotes a 5-ton split when the roof needs a 10-ton packaged unit. Manual J/S sizing and a curb check come before the quote, not after the crane.
03
Nobody files Save on Energy and the PM leaves $8K-$30K on the table. We lock the pre-approval before equipment is ordered and net it on the invoice.

How it works
Five steps, the same on every job, from a single compressor to a multi-unit program.
A Red Seal lead walks the roof, reads nameplates, checks curbs, access and electrical, and logs every symptom.
Parts, labour, crane, permit and HST on one line, plus the repair-vs-replace math when the unit is old.
We file Save on Energy or Enbridge paperwork before equipment is ordered, so the rebate is locked in.
WSIB crews, crane day and street-occupancy permits handled. Tenants get a schedule, not a surprise.
Startup readings, controls check and a commissioning report you can file. Final 25% only after sign-off.
Standard 5-10 ton RTU: 3-5 business days from quote to startup.
Written quote within 24 hours, final 25% only after commissioning sign-off. Call (437) TBD.

Local logistics
The district is inside our 2-4 hour GTA core response. Crews reach The Queensway and Sherway Gardens from the Gardiner and 427, the Etobicoke industrial area and Rexdale from the 427 and 401, Islington-City Centre West from Bloor and the 427, and Mimico from Lake Shore Blvd.
The 427 / Gardiner / QEW interchange is busy at rush hour, so scheduled work is booked outside peak times. Restaurant and commissary jobs are scheduled between services so kitchens are not shut down during prep or dinner. Etobicoke is in the City of Toronto, so cranes on municipal roads need ROW permits, which we file.
Building familiarity
Kitchens are where rooftop units and make-up air fight each other. An MUA that is down or unbalanced leaves the building negative: heavy doors, backdrafting hoods, cold kitchens in January and dining room odours. We service the RTU and the MUA on one visit, balance airflow and building pressure and verify hood interlocks so the exhaust and supply run together. No Etobicoke project is published on this site yet.
Seasons on these roofs
Winter is make-up air season: MUAs heating outdoor air for busy kitchens fail on burner lockouts and modulating gas valves on the coldest days, so fall burner checks matter. Summer brings kitchen heat load on top of outdoor heat, and 5-ton restaurant RTUs that are slightly undersized start losing the dining room at dinner service. Spring coil cleaning on restaurant roofs is non-negotiable because grease-laden exhaust coats nearby condenser coils.

Local questions
Calls from The Queensway, Mimico, Islington-City Centre West and Rexdale get a 30-minute dispatch window and a tech on the roof in 2-4 hours, 24/7, via the 427 and the Gardiner.
Yes. The former motel strip is now towers of up to 49 storeys on retail podiums, and a podium kitchen shares pressure with the tower's lobbies. We service the RTU and make-up air together and rebalance so the kitchen stops pulling air from the building.
Those are classic signs of a failed or unbalanced make-up air unit leaving the building negative. We check the MUA burner and fan, measure exhaust and supply airflow and building pressure, then rebalance and verify the hood interlock.
Yes. Restaurant and commissary calls usually involve both, and we handle them together. Our published example is a Liberty Village RTU + MUA repair for $1,840 on one visit.
Yes. We schedule between services or after close so prep and dinner service are not interrupted, except in true emergencies.
Many small restaurants land around 5 tons once kitchen heat and make-up air are counted. We size with Manual J/S on site. 3-5 ton units run $9,500-$16K installed.
Yes. Large hoods, direct and indirect fired make-up air and RTUs over packing and office areas are all covered by our TSSA G1 and G2 techs.
If the crane sits on a City of Toronto road, a ROW and street occupancy permit is required, and we file it. Plaza parking lot lifts usually only need the property owner's approval.
Nearby coverage
Mississauga's logistics and office parks near Pearson run rows of 10-25 ton packaged units on flat roofs. Our Airport Rd 14-RTU program replaced every unit in 11 days and captured an $87K Save on Energy rebate.
